Message from Pune Branch Chairman

Dear Members,

It is with a sense of humility and excitement that I accept the position of IACC- Pune Branch Chairman for the term 2016-2017. I feel honoured and humbled for being elected as the Branch Chairman for the second time. I have also had the honour to serve as a member of the National Executive Council a few years ago. In the recent past, IACC has become a very pro-active industry association with a sharp focus on Indo-US trade. This has been possible due to the collective leadership of able professionals at the National, Regional as well as Pune level. I am thus excited to be a part of this action yet again.

Our Focus this year [Why]: Your Chamber has constantly strived to deliver value to your businesses in the past years. Past Chairmen and Committee members were always driven by this objective. While we shall continue to pursue the same vision, we are also aware that today we truly live in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) world. Changes are emerging at a faster pace, which at times are significantly unpredictable. Amongst many driving forces, two forces which are having significant impact on economies and business are geo-political scenarios and Technology. This is a Challenge and an Opportunity that needs attention.

Our Approach [How]: To help businesses manage such a scenario, IACC Pune shall focus on two fronts.
Intensify efforts to identify Indo US Business Opportunities in a changing world. This will be addressed through “Indo-US BizConnect” program. This program will focus on:

  • Invite delegations and experts from US to have a dialog with IACC members to identify business opportunities.
  • Continue to work closely with the US Consulate, specifically with Visa and Commercial services sections to represent members’ legitimate business interests.
  • Leverage the presence of “American Business Corner (ABC)” in Pune. ABC is an initiative by US Commercial Services. ABC Pune is setup in partnership with IACC Pune and is the only such center in Maharashtra.
  • Leverage IACC connects with chambers in states of Michigan, Ohio, New Jersey, California, Texas, South Carolina to take a delegation to US, if we have a demand from members.
  • Continue to improve outreach to cities such as Kolhapur, Aurangabad and other emerging business locations

Understand trends and shifts in business sectors. This will be addressed through our “Emerging BizTrends” Program. The aim is to organise events which address Business, Technology and Regulatory trends that can help better prepare us to deal with changes and uncertainties. The preparedness would help define strategies for competitiveness in the Innovation driven Digitalised Economy.

We believe this approach will help us focus on the Charter of the Chamber, remain aligned with what is happening in India and US economies and thus create value for members.

You would be glad to know that your Branch Committee is represented by experienced, reputed, and competent leaders from diverse fields. These leaders hail primarily from SMEs and enterprises within Manufacturing, Digital Technology, and Education sectors, with vast collective experience of working in Indian and US business environment. Their expertise includes Design, Production, Testing, Marketing, Finance, Automation, Analytics, Innovation Management, Digital Infrastructure, Intellectual Property Rights and much more.

Your Branch Committee looks forward to working with you to strengthen the Indo-US Business ecosystem in a manner that is relevant and beneficial to all.

I wish all of you a very successful and healthy 2017.

Yours sincerely
