Dear Members,

I am honoured and privileged to assume the role of National President of IACC (2023-24). I am deeply grateful to all my predecessors who have steered IACC to this height. Needless to say the growth of IACC has been propelled collectively by committed leadership and its supportive members. I do pledge myself to further our shared vision and to fulfil the mission of IACC.

In this endeavour, I am joined by experienced colleagues on the National Executive Council. With the support of all the past presidents, members of NEC and that of our very dedicated secretarial team, I am confident that we will be steadfast in supporting our members through policy advocacy and in offering them all possible resources and opportunities.

Today we stand at the threshold of a new orbit of Indo-US economic partnership. The changing global dynamics, shifting economic landscapes, emerging technologies and favourable regulatory changes are offering us unprecedented opportunities of growth and mutual co-operation, let us not miss the chance to seize the moment.

In this opportune time, we look forward to closely work with federal and provincial governments of India and USA to ensure favourable policy formation for Indian and American business communities. IACC should also aim to bring together counterparts of Indian & US governments, business leaders, professionals and our members to participate in programs organized by the IACC to discuss relevant issue and topics of interest.

I am hopeful that this will be a successful year for IACC which can only be achieved with the co-operation and support of all our members. I wish to continue the rich legacy of our past leaders to promote trade and investments between our two great countries and raise the profile of our chamber.

Greetings to My Esteemed Members

I am Delighted & Honored for electing me to lead this Prestigious Chamber for this Year 2024-25.

It can’t be a better time than today when the cooperation between India & United States of America is at an all-time high in Trade, Policy & Political matters.

The opportunities in our Trade engagement are looking so bright that we need to be NIMBLE footed as an organization, this is a big task, but I am sure we as a team can do it.

With India being the most opportune partner for the United States’s, China + 1 policy, many US organizations are establishing facilities & the existing ones are expanding. This will mean huge opportunities for many of our MSME sector industries to trade with these organizations.

With India being the Fifth Largest Manufacturing country, United States will need our manufacturing Infrastructure to satisfy the growing needs of them. We from IACC will be the catalyst to empower our Manufacturing sector especially the MSME sector.

United States government is collaborating with our government in various sectors & their focus is going to be on Semi-Conductor manufacturing, Quantum Computing & in the new technology on Telecommunication for both in Civil & Defense. IACC plans to have programs tailored that will boost the trade in these areas.

Our Membership Growth is very vital for us to provide the impetus for the huge trade growth opportunity & I am sure all our Members, The Leadership & The Secretariat will lend hand to achieve the same.

Greetings from Indo-American Chamber of Commerce!

At the outset I congratulate the President elect- Joe Biden and Vice President elect- Kamala Harris. I am sure that Indo – US economic relations will continue to shape up for the better in future. The long term target of $500 billion in two-way trade gained popularity and momentum after the then-Vice President Joe Biden’s announcement in a packed – house meeting in Mumbai Stock Exchange in 2013. I hope that government officials and industry leaders can now work with even more enthusiasm to achieve target of $500 billion.

India and the USA have a long standing bilateral friendship. In the last few years, both the nations have taken significant steps to enhance their political and economic ties. In the last week of October 2020, India’s Minister of Defence Rajnath Singh and Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar welcomed U.S. Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo and Secretary of Defense Dr. Mark T. Esper to New Delhi for the third annual U.S.-India 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue. The Ministers reiterated their commitment to further strengthening the U.S.-India partnership, anchored in mutual trust and friendship, shared commitment to democracy, converging strategic interests, and robust engagement of their citizens.

India has signed the Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement (BECA) with the USA. BECA will enable the exchange of geospatial data and information between the two countries.

Major thrust areas for both the countries are strategic cooperation; energy and climate change; education and development; economics, trade and agriculture; science and technology, health and innovation.

According to USTR figures, U.S. goods and services trade with India totalled an estimated $146.1 billion in 2019. Exports were $58.6 billion; imports were $87.4 billion. The U.S. goods and services trade deficit with India was $28.8 billion in 2019.

Equally significant is the investment between the two countries more or less evenly divided between the manufacturing and service sector.

Recent trade statistics revealed by GoI, shows encouraging signs of improvement. In the first week of November 2020, exports of pharmaceuticals, and gems and jewellery grew 32 per cent to $139.12 million and 88.8 per cent to $3.36 billion, respectively. During the period, exports to the US, Hong Kong and Singapore rose by 53.91 per cent, 176.2 per cent and 90.76 per cent, respectively.

In the coming years, we would also see significant development in the areas of Information and Communication Technology. The U.S.-India Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Working Group is all set to create an open, reliable and secure internet as well as the multi-stakeholder model of internet governance. There will be opportunities in supply of strategic material and critical infrastructure and to independently evaluate the risk associated with deployment of emerging ICT technologies, including 5G networks.

IACC continued its efforts in hosting webinars with focus on strategic areas such as Geo Economics of Indo US Business, UP-US Services Summit: Handholding of UP and US: A Win-Win Paradigm, New Immigration Bans and Regulations Impacting Indian Nationals and Businesses in Post-Elections U.S, Free Trade Agreements – Analysis of new CAROTA Rules, Unlocking the Paradigms; Opportunities and risks in the Indo-US post pandemic landscape.
