The IACC has been off to a brilliant start with a variety of programs, forums and events underway. The first quarter of the financial year is poised to be a memorable one. While we look back at the work we have done, there is indeed a great deal to look forward to as well.
The IACC looks to cover a variety of pressing issues to create events and programs that offer real value not only to our esteemed members, but to also address issues that will impact one and all.
“Listen To The Leader” Series; April 9th 2016, Hotel Vivanta, Chennai
The program was held on April 09, 2016 at Chennai. Dr. Kannan Ramaswamy, William D. Hacker Chair Professor of Management – Department of Global Business, Thunderbird School of Global Management, USA had kindly consented to be our guest speaker. The speaker shared some of his research projects on leadership and strategy for business with the audience.
Meeting with Mr. Piyush Goyal; April 15th 2016, Otters Club, Mumbai
We had the privilege of meeting Mr. Piyush Goyal - Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. We had discussions related to various issues covering across sectors with the minister.
2nd Indo-US Infrastructure Summit; April 29th 2016, India Habitat Center, New Delhi
After the phenomenal success of the 1st Indo-US Infrastructure Summit in 2014, IACC looked to raise the bar with the 2nd edition of the program in 2016. Hon’ble Minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari accepted our invitation to inaugurate the event while Hon’ble Minister for Railways Mr. Suresh Prabhu graciously accepted to deliver the opening keynote address.
The summit is one of the largest and most comprehensive programs which showcased opportunities between India and US in key infrastructure sectors. Through a series of interactive sessions and panel discussions, it served as an excellent platform to discuss best global practices, partnership strategies and policy updates. Key policy makers and industry experts gave the audience an in-depth perspective while business networking and forging new partnerships for the future were an integral feature of the event.
“US Presidential Elections 2016: State of the Race”; May 6th 2016, Hotel Raintree, Chennai
This program was scheduled on May 6, 2016 at Chennai. The session was addressed by Senator Curtis S. Bramble, Utah, USA and Representative Jay Kaufman, Massachusetts Legislature, USA. Senator Curtis S. Bramble (Republican) was elected to the Utah State Senate in November 2000. He is in his fourth term in the Utah Senate, where he previously served as Senate majority leader and currently serves as Senate president pro tempore. Representative Jay Kaufman (Democrat) has served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives since January 1995 and is now in his third term chairing the legislature’s Committee on Revenue. The two eminent legislators discussed the trends and issues in the US Presidential Elections 2016 from Republican and Democratic perspectives. The program gave the audience a closer look at the state of political affairs in the US with special emphasis on the US Presidential Elections.
3rd Annual Conference of IACC on Corporate Social Responsibility 2016;
“CSR Today: Issues, Challenges and New Paradigms”; May 11, 2016; Mumbai
After the very successful accomplishment of CSR Conferences in 2014 and 2015, we organised the 3rd Annual Conference of IACC on Corporate Social Responsibility with an overarching theme: “CSR Today: Issues, Challenges and New Paradigms.” Today, the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility appears to be firmly rooted in the Indian business agenda, though with emergent challenges and issues coming to the fore. The focus this year has been to create a platform to discuss these challenges, issues and, insights that can help develop effective CSR Strategies that help businesses to adopt ways to represent themselves as more responsible and raise the bar. Through this year’s conference agenda, we aimed to cover the current scenario including issues and challenges in CSR and the path forward.
This year our discussion topics broadly covered the following subjects and areas: Challenges of Auditing, Transparency and Reporting in CSR; Emergence of Social Impact Investing: Is there a case to integrate under the CSR Act; Overcoming on-ground Capacity and Implementation challenges for large CSR fund deployment – Focus on PSUs and Large Corporates; Debate Session: The 2% ruling under CSR ACT drives nothing more than corporate tokenism.
Mr. Subhash Desai, Hon’ble Minister of Industries, Govt. of Maharashtra, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Ambassador Jonathan Addleton, Mission Director, USAID/India, Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, Director General & CEO, IICA amongst many other remarkable speakers from organizations like: Essar Foundation, IDFC Foundation, TechnoServe India, Acumen, SBI Foundation, IDFC Foundation, NTPC, Bloomberg LP, ICCo and many more. The event was well covered by media.
IACC National Conclave "Increasing US - India Trade to $500 billion"; 3rd & 4th June, 2016, Hotel ITC
I am pleased to inform you all that Mr. Rajnath Singh- Hon’ble Home Minister was our Chief Guest at the IACC National Conclave 2016 “Increasing US India Trade to $500 billion" on 3rd & 4th June 2016 at Hotel ITC Kakatiya, Hyderabad. Mr. E. S. L. Narsimhan, Hon’ble Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telengana graced the occasion besides several State Ministers and Secretaries. The event was widely covered by the media and aired by Doordarshan.
IACC Annual Convention “Unleashing US – India Economic Synergy”- August 22nd & 23rd 2016: Trident, Nariman Point, Mumbai.
With a number of industry stalwarts and policy makers in attendance the Annual Convention will cover a wide spectrum of topics. The Panel discussions and interactions will be based on the following sectors and subjects: Infrastructure: Ports & Logistics, Defense & Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Dedicated Freight Corridor, Banking & Financial Services and Energy. Policy makers will interact with the industry to address specific issues and concerns of the respective sectors. Recommendations from the deliberations will be presented to both Governments (India & U.S.) for follow up/ further consideration and action.
We look forward to having greater member participation in the ensuing events and would like to thank you all for being with us every step of the way. IACC will continue to strive harder and scale new heights so as to provide our members with programs that prove to be truly ground breaking.
