Indo American Habitat Forum

Purpose :

  • To facilitate bilateral dialogue between businesses, professionals and academicians of both the countries and create a platform to network and realize each other strengths and business potentials.
  • Promote sharing of best practices, knowledge, experiences, technology and industry trends between the two countries.
  • Help create direct B2B contacts with American Product producers in equipment and technology and Service Providers such as Consultants in Carbon Footprint Reduction and LEED type certifications etc.
  • Assimilate expert inputs to make recommendations
  • Organize events (Conferences, seminars, roundtables, meetings and delegations) every year.

Plans for the year :

  • Organize periodical meetings of the core group to facilitate exchange of ideas, networking and obtaining leads to expand further.
    • Organize monthly Conference calls
    • Start an E- Mail Group
  • Organize 2-3 Forums/seminars in tier 2 towns across India.
  • Organize a standalone two day Conference on Sustainable Cities in March 2011 in Delhi.
    • Focus on smaller cities (tier 2) that are not rebuilt or urbanized very year.
    • Focus on smaller scale redevelopment projects and policies and administrative/governance reforms rather than only big headline projects.

Flagship event arising from the Forum:

Two day Conference on Creating Sustainable Cities on 10 and 11th March 2011 at Gulmohar Hall, Habitat World, New Delhi.


To showcase business opportunities in fields related to urbanization, city development, infrastructure, building technologies, and other related fields in India and the US and to enable networking, sharing of best practices, showcasing associated services and products and exploring new business ventures and tie- ups.


  • Worked out on an initial Conference Structure in consultation with the Chairman.
  • Decided and reached out to chairpersons for most of the sessions and in the process of coordination to freeze speakers, format and other related aspects.
  • in the process of coordinating with a few key contacts in US to align US speakers and delegates and in talks regarding logistics, travel and other related aspects of the Conference
