Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, NIC in association with PHDCCI under the auspices of People to People Ambassador Programs is organizing an Interactive session on "The Practice of Personal Financial Planning and the Development of the Financial Profession In India” on Thursday, 14th November 2013 from 6.00 pm onwards at Raunaq Room, 1st Floor, PHD House, 4/2 Sri Institutional Area, August Kranti Marg, New Delhi.
Mr. Richard C Salmen, CFP, Past President, Financial Planning Association, Overland Park Kansas, USA is leading a Financial Planning Delegation.
PROFESSIONAL PURPOSE STATEMENT
A delegation of professionals with expertise, experience and interest in financial planning have been selected to exchange ideas and address common issues with their professional counterparts in India, under the auspices of People to People Ambassador Programs.
The objective of this delegation is to seek a better understanding of the practice of personal financial planning and the development of the financial planning profession in India through conversation with Indian financial planners. They would also gain an understanding of the financial institutions (bank, securities firms, insurance companies) serving Indian citizens.
The goals are to allow the group the chance to learn while they facilitate increased learning and idea sharing for the U.S. delegation and for the Indian host professionals. U.S. delegates will develop a deeper understanding of financial planning processes, tools and delivery in India as well as promote international cooperation among financial planning practitioners and financial planning professional organizations.
The following subjects are of particular interest to the delegation. These topics may be further refined to incorporate the specialized interest and expertise of the individual delegates.

• What are the most common financial decisions Indian families must make?
• How do individual Indians invest?
• Distribution of wealth in India
• Financial education in India
• Delivery of financial services to Indian families
• Understanding Indian financial institutions
• Indian financial markets and economy
• India’s history, future and people
The delegates will be prepared to participate in formal and informal discussions of a professional nature.
It is intended that these exchanges will facilitate increased learning for both the host professional and for the U.S. delegation, and will offer contributions of international understanding at the career and personal levels for all.
