EMPLOYEE BACKGROUND VERIFICATION IN THE INDIAN WORKPLACE

Mr. Mahesh Srinivasan , MD Seaton India Pvt Ltd and Director Footprints Collateral Services will recapitulate the various problems companies face as a result of not conducting employee background verification, or of having conducted it in a very cursory manner. Examples of fraud, misconduct and terrorism in the Indian work place will be analyzed and steps that could have averted these incidents will be discussed.

Some unfortunate features of India's history, geography & culture that impact negatively on our work ethics/practices will be focused upon; the possible ill effects of these practices on an individual's antecedents/credentials will be highlighted. The need therefore, to conduct a thorough verification in these areas of ones background will be established.

The complexities of conducting verification in India, due to the unorganized nature of the sector, will be discussed. Suggestions will be made as to the areas of an employee's background that companies must pay attention to, in order to safeguard their operational interests. The speakers will analyze desired best practices that verification companies must adopt and have in place.
